ProvenMetal launched as a domestic PCB and PCBA broker-operator for quick-turn hardware teams. Customers upload board files and BOMs, and the company automates quoting, part procurement, DFM review, and coordination across contract manufacturers and board fabs. The founders were explicit that they are not yet winning by superior factory throughput. Their bet is that the real delay in low-volume US board builds is the front half of the workflow, especially long-lead parts and the back-and-forth each manufacturer requires. They have KiCad and Altium plugins to surface sourcing earlier in the design cycle, prebuy parts before layout is finalized, store inventory, and then route jobs through a domestic network. They also said they still use both US and Chinese fabs for bare boards depending on speed, and plan to open their own assembly facility later.
If you build hardware, the practical angle here is not cheaper US assembly. It is faster iteration if someone can lock parts early and collapse the email-heavy quoting process. Watch whether ProvenMetal adds financing, deeper capabilities docs, and design-time supply chain guidance, because those are the features commenters treated as purchase drivers rather than the 7-day headline alone.
